I had a tofu sandwich and sticky rice. It was good and a good value. Prices can't be beat.

Saigon Sandwich is famous, but L&G is a classic as well without the giant line! Came here with friends at around 1:00 PM on a Friday and there were only a couple of other people waiting for their food. Unlike the other shop, they take card with a minimum purchase of $10, so if you forget cash it's not necessarily a problem. The woman behind the counter takes her time making your food but the wait isn't too bad. There's a couple of barstools by the window, but the space is pretty cramped -- we took our sandwiches to go. I got the BBQ Pork Banh Mi, and it was really great! The pork was so juicy and tender, and there were plenty of veggies in there as well for a good crunch. For $5.50, a great deal and a good option for a quick, cheap meal!

The BBQ pork was very flavorful. Great hospitality. And the price is unbeatable. 10.50$ for sandwich and coffee was also amazing deal

called in an order of their BBQ Chicken Banh Mi for pickup, and it was ready and still warm when i arrived 8 minutes after calling. 5/5 Banh Mi for the taste, quality and value! the portion of meat & veggies was very generous considering i paid $5.50 cash. their BBQ chicken is tender & well-seasoned, and well-balanced with the pickled veggies and jalapeño. this is more of a pickup/take-out food spot and is the perfect place to get some food before going out to sit and chill at a park or view. the woman who gave me my order was courteous and straight-forward, and pickup was a breeze. parking in that area can be a bit difficult but i got lucky with finding a metered spot on the same block. consider L&G to be another favorite local banh mi spot! i'm grateful to have finally stopped by, and that OG small-businesses like L&G are still serving SF. i'll be back to enjoy their other banh mi & food options :-)

I had the bbq pork Sandwich. Bread was just right. Pork meat was just right. Few fatty meat but it was fine. Overall not bad. I will definitely try the other sandwich's.

I was searching for the best Tofu Bahn Mi in SF and I think I found the best bang for the buck one! This is in the border of tenderloin I think, but in the day time it was fine. They aren't open too late anyways. It's a cozy place, but space for a table and 3 bar seating by the window, where I devoured my sandwich. I got the tofu sandwich, and the crunch is exactly how I liked it! Just crunchy enough on the outside with the softness on the inside. The tofu was marinated decently and the Sriracha added a nice kick. I have been to other places, and no other place seems to be this cheap still and also taste good at $5.50. Just bring cash to save you some fees. I was hoping the tofu was marinated more, but still enjoyed it a lot. I think this is the place I will frequent for my Bahn mi fix, so can't wait to be back again!

L&G is a convenient and cheap spot for a quick Vietnamese sandwich or snack if you are ever visiting City Hall or the Farmer's market! The sandwiches are a great value since they range from $5.50 to $7.50 for veggie, chicken, pork, meatball, or fish cake bahn mis. They are very authentic. The Special bahn mi comes with a nice spread of pate, sliced tongue - something I don't often see in American-ized Vietnamese shops. The veggies are fresh and jalapeños nice and spicy! The place takes phone orders so call ahead to order and pickup. The service is fast, friendly, and typically consists of one guy making the sandwiches, and another ringing people up. The store is small and cramped but there is a small seating area for 3 people to eat near the window. Paid street parking runs along Larkin street. Just feed the meter 10 minutes and you should be good to go!

The broiled pork sandwich is my favorite. It's like a Vietnamese teriyaki pork sandwich. The pork is quite fatty, and after removing some of the larger chunks of fat, the meat is delicious. My next favorite is probably the meatball sandwich, although the ground meat was rather scant. The BBQ pork sandwich is a little dry, but still flavorful. The chipotle pork sandwich is spiiiicy, not exactly Vietnamese, but also good. The baguette is soft, while I prefer one with a crunchy crust. All sandwiches come with a giant dollop of their garlic mayo sauce (so good that I will refrain from comparing it to the crack being sold outside its doors!) 1 star off: There was only one lady making sandwiches, and she used her gloved hand to handle money. I have a strong stomach and did not get sick, but others may be grossed out by this.

Food - was craving a banh mi and finally tried this place after seeing it recommended on reddit! I got the combo banh mi without jalepenos. I'd say the banh mi was OK good. it was still very crispy after more than 15 mins (I walked home after ordering) and decent portion of meat. Not enough pate I'd say and the pickled veggies weren't pickled enough. Otherwise, OK decent for $7. Better than saigon sandwich though imo. Service - super quick and easy. Ordered at the front, waited probably less than 5 minutes and it was ready to go. Ambiance - obviously not in the best part of town, but the streets today (7.31.24) seemed rather clean, at least much cleaner than it was a few months ago when I walked by in the area. Just tread with caution and go early. Lots of people walking around.
